During their recent audits of tax code Section 403(b) plans, employee plan auditors have seen relatively few cases of public educational organizations and tax-exempt 501(c)(3) groups that have not adopted written plan documents, an Internal Revenue Service official said May 23.

Reducing the value of the charitable tax deduction will hurt America’s communities and millions of people who rely on generous donors, says the Charitable Giving Coalition. The coalition expressed its views in a May 13 letter to Rep. David Camp, R-Mich, chair of the House Ways and Means Committee. Federal lawmakers are deliberating comprehensive tax reform.

The IRS is reminding many tax exempt organizations of a May 15 deadline to file annual reports. Organizations will see their federal tax exemptions automatically revoked if they have not filed reports for three consecutive years.
