Member Spotlight – Katie Paulin, CPA

Jul 31, 2012

Meet Katie Paulin, CPA, from Clark Schaefer Hackett & Co., who is an active OSCPA volunteer. Learn how her involvement in the Young CPA (YCPA) program has impacted her career and increased young professional involvement in the Cincinnati area.

Why do you enjoy working on the Cincinnati Young CPA planning committee?
I enjoy working on the Cincinnati committee mainly because it is an activity outside of work that is both professional and fun. I also enjoy thinking of ideas that would appeal to Young CPAs in the area so that we can grow our group and meet more people.
What do you consider one of the committee’s major accomplishments?
I believe the committee has held some great events in the past year. Participation at the Reds and Cyclones games as well as the Wine Guy Bistro Night were as high as I have ever seen. Also, I believe the committee truly understands the restrictions of busy season and cater to that by having the majority of the events from May to December.
How has your involvement with OSCPA helped your career?
I have been involved with OSCPA since college when I was a Student Ambassador for the University of Cincinnati my last year of school. I was able to meet professionals from all over the state and expand my networking base. Now, with involvement on the committee and attendance at the events we plan, I have been able to meet even more people as well as have a better understanding of the businesses we visit.
What YCPA initiatives do you hope to see in the future in Cincinnati?
I would really like to see more company visits with background tours. These are always fun activities and we are able to really connect with the business owners and employees to see how Cincinnati businesses operate. The Reds game last year was really fun as well so I would also like to see events like that in the future.

What would you suggest to a YCPA who would like to be involved in YCPA initiatives with OSCPA?
I suggest attending events and reaching out to a committee member. We are always looking for new ideas and would welcome anyone looking to get involved.
