OSCPA on track with CEO search

May 16, 2012
OSCPA’s national search for a new CEO is on track. The executive search committee of the Executive Board finalized a position profile and posted it on OSCPA’s website this week. In addition, Vetted Solutions, the consulting firm hired to lead the search, has begun outreach efforts to identify qualified candidates. The new CEO is expected to join OSCPA in early 2013. Current CEO Clarke Price, CAE, will retire Dec. 31, capping off a 40-year career at the Society.

Identifying the specific qualities, skillset and experience ideal for the next OSCPA executive leader was a comprehensive process that involved interviews with Society members and the entire staff.

“OSCPA has a very unique culture that sets it apart from other associations and state CPA societies,” said Jim Zaniello, president and founder of Vetted Solutions. The Washington, DC-based executive search firm specializes in association and nonprofit recruiting and consulting.

“The Board and staff have a collaborative and entrepreneurial working relationship and are focused on achieving high-level strategic initiatives that positively impact the CPA profession in Ohio and nationally.”

In addition to a strong advocacy program at the state level, OSCPA enjoys a visible presence in the national accounting and association communities. Maintaining strong relationships in those circles will be a priority initiative for the new CEO, as will advancing the Society’s strong track record of legislative successes, and finding creative solutions to members’ changing needs.

The Board and executive search committee also identified opportunities for the Society to weigh in on critical future challenges CPAs and businesses are facing. That includes helping businesses thrive in the state’s economic climate, addressing the aging of the CPA profession and subsequent generational transition in the Society, and helping members work through succession planning issues and an expected transition to IFRS.
