The Ohio Society’s Executive Board recently approved the initial candidate endorsements recommended by the various local screening committees and the statewide screening committee for the November 2012 general election. The screening committees separately and carefully evaluated the candidates for their respective races on behalf of OSCPA members.
Ohio Supreme Court Endorsed Candidates:
Associate Justice Terrence O’Donnell
Justice O’Donnell, endorsed by OSCPA several times in prior races for the Supreme Court, continues to have a solid reputation as a fair and independent jurist, and has a lengthy and impressive judicial record to match. O’Donnell was unanimously recommended for his second full term on Ohio’s highest court.
Associate Justice Robert Cupp
Justice Cupp has also enjoyed a very positive and long working relationship with OSCPA, first as a state legislator, and for the past six years on the Supreme Court. Cupp has a solid, proven record of impartiality and judicial restraint on the bench, and received OSCPA’s unanimous endorsement for a second term.
Associate Justice Yvette McGee-Brown
Justice Brown, appointed to the Supreme Court in January 2011, was unanimously endorsed for her race to secure a full first term. OSCPA believes that her broad business background, combined with her commitment to applying the law fairly and without a predisposed mindset, make her an asset to Ohio’s Supreme Court.
Ohio General Assembly Endorsed Candidates:
OSCPA is also pleased to announce endorsement of the several candidates for the Ohio General Assembly. Candidate endorsements were based on voting records, working relationship with OSCPA, background, district makeup and electability. Additional endorsements for House and Senate races are currently being evaluated by regional screening committees and will be announced later in July.
