QUALITY GUARANTEED

The Ohio Society is committed to providing unique, high quality Education & Training opportunities for Society members' success. If you are not completely satisfied with any Society course you take, you may attend a course of comparable cost at no charge or receive a full refund of the course fee simply by contacting the Education & Training team.

The Ohio Society of CPAs has a strict no-solicitation policy at all of our events without the express written permission of OSCPA. At events where there are exhibits, solicitation from participating vendors is permitted in the exhibit hall only and not inside the classrooms. Any reported individuals will be escorted off the premises with no refund.

Course registration policies

The Ohio Society of CPAs Education Services Advisory Council has developed a number of policies designed to help Education & Training participants get the most from courses they attend. Questions on Education & Training policies should be directed to the Education & Training Department or call 614.764.2727 (800.686.2727).

Registration cancellations and transfers

You snooze, you may lose!

Due to facility cancellation policies and discussion leader travel, The Ohio Society makes decisions to hold or cancel a seminar two weeks prior to the event date. So if you are thinking of registering for one of the Society’s 200+ seminars, don’t delay! Your registration may be the determining factor in deciding to hold a course.

Remember, if the Society cancels a program your course fee is fully refundable, and you can always transfer your registration to another course at no charge.

Programs worth four credits or more (including professional standards and ethical responsibilities)

If you notify The Ohio Society of your cancellation up to 14 days prior to the course date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel 13 days or less prior to the course date, you will receive a refund in the amount of the course fee, less $50, unless otherwise stated. If you cancel on the program date or you do not show up for the program, you will not receive a refund. You may transfer to another program up to the day prior to the event at no charge.

Programs worth three credits or less

Registrants will not receive a refund.

Late fees and/or nonmember fees may apply to transfers and substitutions.

If the Society should cancel a program, the full course fee will be refunded to you. If the registration fee was applied to a credit card, the refund will be credited to the card. If the fee was paid via a check, the refund will be in the form of a credit which can be applied to another course.

To cancel a course registration or transfer to another course, call CPAnswers, the Society’s member service center, at 888.959.1212 (614.791.1212) as early as possible.

Accountancy Board CPE requirements

As a condition of membership or affiliate status in The Ohio Society of CPAs, individuals must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Comply with the Accountancy Board of Ohio’s CPE requirements for the permit status they hold in Ohio (Ohio permit or non-practicing registration). For specific information regarding educational requirements, contact the Accountancy Board of Ohio at 614.466.4135 or

    http://acc.ohio.gov/CPE.aspx.

  • If the individual does not hold a permit from the Accountancy Board of Ohio, they must comply with the requirements for the permit of its equivalent which they hold from another state or jurisdiction’s board of accountancy.
The basic continuing professional education (CPE) requirement to obtain or renew the Ohio permit is 120 credits over a three-year period. For specific educational requirements, refer to the Accountancy Board of Ohio’s website.

New CPAs holding the Ohio permit are required to report 40 credits over a two-year period. A new CPA licensed in 2011, for example, will have a continuing education reporting period of January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012 and a requirement of 40 credits.

All CPAs holding the Ohio permit must take 3 credits in professional standards and responsibilities ("PSR") each reporting period. All OSCPA professional standards and responsibilities offerings fulfill the 3 credit Accountancy Board requirement.

Measuring Live Group Study CPE Credit
For each 50 minutes of continuous instruction, the Accountancy Board of Ohio awards one CPE credit. Beyond the first credit, each twenty-five minute period equals one-half credit. Eight credits are given if 300 classroom minutes are provided in one day, excluding breaks.
