Governor, budget director outline dire outlook for state's economy
Coinciding with an announcement by the National Bureau of Economic Research that the nation has been in a recession since December 2007, Gov. Ted Strickland and State Budget Director Pari Sabey held a news conference to describe the difficult financial circumstances facing Ohio.

An overwhelming majority of 82% of CFOs said they do not have any plans to make additions or reductions to the size of their team next year, according to the most recent Robert Half International Financial Hiring Index.

Pessimism among CFOs and senior level CPAs about the U.S. economy hit an all time high - or low - in the quarterly AICPA Business and Industry Outlook Survey. This is the fourth consecutive quarter the CPAs responding forecasted a slowing U.S. economy.

The SEC released its proposed roadmap for the transition of U.S. public companies to the IFRS for a 90-day review. The extended review moves the potential adoption into the administration led by President-elect Barack Obama's selection to succeed current SEC Chairman Christopher Cox.
