Gottfried nominated as 2010-2011 chair-electJames D. Gottfried, CPA is the recommended 2010-2011 chair-elect candidate for The Ohio Society’s Executive Board. If the Nominating Committee’s unanimous recommendation is accepted by members, he will serve as chair of the Board for the 2011-2012 activity year.
Gottfried has been an OSCPA member for 30 years. Among his many notable activities is service on OSCPA’s high-level Budget Advisory Task Force which prepared and presented budget recommendations to Gov. Strickland in November. Gottfried also served on OSCPA’s Executive Board, as a vice president and as chair of the Tax Committee.
If elected chair, Gottfried plans to focus on current issues facing the profession, including:
- Ohio’s economic climate and its direct impact on members, the profession, and the public
- Accounting and auditing standards for public and private companies
- Impact of governmental regulatory and oversight provisions
- Public trust in members and the profession
"In addition to continuing to focus on existing issues, it’s imperative that we also be prepared for issues that will arise in the next couple of years that are not presently apparent,” Gottfried said. The Nominating Committee’s recommended slate of candidates for the 2010-2011 Executive Board includes the following members who will serve two-year terms:

In accordance with the Society’s bylaws, the publication of the Nominating Committee report constitutes notification to the membership of the recommended slate of candidates for the 2010-2011 Executive Board.
