2010 Census critical for Ohio: Up to two Congressional seats at risk
Ohio’s population grew just 1.7% since the 2000 census, well below the national average of 9%. As a result, Ohio is expected to lose at least one Congressional seat, and possibly two from our current 18-member delegation in the House. This is down from a high of 24 in the 1960s.
The potential change could cost the state two votes in the Electoral College, giving Ohio less of a say in presidential elections.
Ohio has launched a new Web site, http://www.census.ohio.gov/, to provide Ohioans with easy-to-get information on the upcoming 2010 census.
OSCPA urges its members to complete and return the Census form to help ensure every Ohioan is counted in this important census.
