Five Ohio Society of CPAs members named among Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting

(COLUMBUS, October 28, 2009) – The Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) announced that four member CPAs and President and CEO J. Clarke Price have been named to Accounting Today’s 2009 Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.  They were chosen from among more than 200 nominees nationwide for initiatives they have spearheaded to ‘lead the way’ out of recession challenges.

Charles E. Landes, CPA, vice president, AICPA Professional Assurance Standards and Services Group, (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Landes, former partner in the Cincinnati CPA firm of Barnes Dennig & Co Ltd., has worked for the American Institute of CPAs since 2003. An AICPA vice president, he heads the Institute’s office of accounting standards, and has led a project that recently proposed sweeping changes to the CPA profession’s compilation and review standards.

Gary S. Shamis, CPA, managing director, SS&G Financial Services Inc. (Solon, OH)
Shamis has spent his career in public accounting and shares his expertise and insight as a chief executive by speaking to groups, writing articles and authoring a book about CPA firm management, “Managing Chaos.”

Parnell Black, CPA, CEO, National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts  (Salt Lake City, UT)
Black heads a group of accounting professionals that offers niche services in forensics, fraud protection, business valuation and litigation support. The NACVA Company has 7,200 members and offers services with a growing demand in today’s economic environment.

Gale G. Crosley, CPA, founder and president, Crosley + CO (Atlanta, GA)
Crosley organizes the annual Forum for Women in Accounting, and consults with CPA firms to help them achieve greater potential through customized growth strategies.

J. Clarke Price, CAE, president and CEO, The Ohio Society of CPAs (Dublin, OH)
Under Price’s leadership, OSCPA launched an online Financial Crisis News Center this year to provide members with news and resources to weather the recession. OSCPA added special education and training events focusing on the economy, offered free career coaching at larger events, and launched the Pier Diem job board to connect Ohio businesses with CPAs looking for consulting work.
