High School Accounting Career Days
What are High School Accounting Career Days?
The Ohio Society of CPAs works hard to attract Ohio’s best and brightest students to the CPA profession. One way we do that is through the High School Accounting Career Days program. Every fall and spring, the OSCPA hosts the program on college campuses around the state. The half-day event brings in local CPAs, as well as college accounting students, to share their experiences and inspire juniors and seniors in high school to major in accounting and become a CPA.
As a volunteer, what will I do?
Volunteers serve as speakers during the events. Most sessions are 20 to 30 minutes and cover a range of topics that introduce students to various career paths as a CPA, the CPA exam, perspectives from young professionals, financial literacy and the transition from high school to college. Volunteers are also welcome to suggest session topics based on their areas of expertise.
Do I qualify to participate?
High School Accounting Career Day volunteers must be comfortable with public speaking. We’re looking for dynamic individuals that are willing to share their stories and experiences that will inspire high school students to seriously consider a career as a CPA.
What is the time commitment?
These events generally take place in the morning between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon. Speakers are welcome to attend the entire program or just participate in their 20 to 30 minute session.
