(COLUMBUS, April 27, 2009) - The Ohio Society of CPAs has named Lee D. Wunschel, CPA, of Toledo as one of Ohio’s Most Influential CPAs. The award  recognizes CPAs who have had significant, positive influence on the growth and development of the CPA profession and The Ohio Society of CPAs.

To commemorate The Ohio Society’s 100th anniversary, members across Ohio nominated their peers for the award. A member-led selection committee chose the finalists which included Wunschel and a handful of other CPAs in Ohio.

Wunschel has been an audit partner with LublinSussman Group, CPAs, Toledo, since 1991. The firm serves small- and medium-sized businesses, not-for-profit organizations and employee benefit plans.

Wunschel is a past chair of The Ohio Society of CPAs Executive Board and a past president of the former Toledo Chapter. He currently chairs The Ohio CPA Foundation Board of Trustees – the charitable arm of The Ohio Society of CPAs – and was instrumental in the planning and execution of The Centennial Campaign, which raised more than $1.5 million in 2008. He has also served the Society as chair of Accounting and Auditing Committee and Strategic Planning Committee.

Wunschel served on the AICPA Council from 1997-2007and the AICPA Awards Committee. He served on the AICPA Board of Directors from 2004-2007. He is a member of the AICPA PCPS Executive Committee, chair of the University of Toledo Accounting Advisory Council, member of the University of Toledo College of Business Administration Leadership Council and has served on several other nonprofit boards in the Toledo area.

The Ohio Society of CPAs, established in 1908, represents more than 23,000 CPAs in business, education, government and public accounting. The Ohio Society’s members not only meet statutory and regulatory requirements as CPAs, but also embrace the highest standards of professional and ethical performance. This is achieved through ongoing professional education, comprehensive quality review and compliance with a strict Code of Professional Conduct.
