Why you should hire a CPA

You work hard for the money you earn. That’s why it’s important to choose the best professional for preparing your taxes or giving other personal financial advice.

Unlike some tax preparers who receive minimal training, CPAs are fully engaged in interpreting and applying tax law year-round, instead of just during tax time.

But CPAs also do much more. Most CPAs serve as trusted personal advisors to their clients over a long period of time.

They know your complete financial situation and work with you in advance to develop strategies that save you money when it’s time to file your returns.

They can also help you prepare a budget, review your investment strategies and set and achieve financial goals.

Public Reputation

CPAs are highly regarded by the public. In a recent national survey, CPAs ranked higher than any other business professionals for the quality of their financial advice.

Training and Qualifications

Earning the CPA certification and becoming licensed to practice is a rigorous process.

In Ohio, CPA applicants are college graduates who have earned 150 credit hours. They must also pass a four-part professional examination and have a minimum of one year of professional experience under the supervision of a CPA.

CPAs are licensed by the Accountancy Board of Ohio to practice public accounting and must take 120 hours of continuing professional education every three years to maintain their license.

Professional Code of Conduct

As a member of The Ohio Society of CPAs, your CPA adheres to the highest professional standards and ethical conduct in serving the public. CPAs nationwide follow this same Professional Code of Conduct.

CPAs in public accounting also undergo a peer review every three years. This is a thorough inspection of their practices by other trained CPAs. The program is designed to ensure a higher level of accuracy and integrity in a CPA’s work.

So a relationship with your CPA is like a wellness plan for your financial future. Your CPA is a partner who will help keep you on track to meet your goals, whether it’s maximizing your tax refund, saving for a house, or planning for retirement.

Find A CPA for your financial needs.
