(Columbus, OH – June 16, 2008) – The Ohio Society of CPAs has named Glenn A. Roberts, CPA, as the organization’s 2008 Outstanding Member Volunteer.
Roberts, who is an audit partner at Hoover & Roberts, Inc. in Eaton, has a long history of tireless commitment to leadership, knowledge and service during his 25 years as an active member of The Ohio Society.
Most recently, he chaired the Society’s Accounting and Auditing Committee and during his tenure, a record number of comments were issued to regulatory bodies proposing and setting standards that affect the profession. He has also served on several of the Society’s education and training conference advisory committees, working to ensure members receive the most current tools and information they need to serve clients.
Roberts is now serving as chair of the Peer Review Committee, the body that provides peer to peer oversight of CPA firms working in Ohio. Roberts is working with the committee to implement recently adopted nationwide Peer Review standards that will take effect in 2009.
“Our most immediate challenge is to implement these changes which will provide firms and the clients they serve with easier to understand methods of measuring a firm’s performance,” Roberts said.
Roberts views his time spent volunteering as an important way to give back to the profession.
“We’ve all reaped the rewards of our profession,” Roberts said. “Volunteering is one way of being a good steward and giving something back to the profession.”
Roberts lives in Eaton.
