(Columbus, OH - June 16, 2008) – Allyn R. Adams, CPA, retired partner at Deloitte & Touche in Cleveland, has been awarded The Ohio Society of CPAs’ 2008 Gold Medal for Meritorious Service to the Accounting Profession, the Society’s highest recognition for a member.
The award, presented to Adams June 12 at The Ohio Society’s Annual Meeting in Columbus, recognizes Adams’ significant contributions to the profession and the Society during his 31 years as an active member of the organization.
Adams has served in various leadership roles during this tenure, including the Executive Committee, the Nominating Committee, Committee of Fifty, the Endorsement Screening Committee, Committee Council Chairs, and the Public Relations Advisory Council. From 1986 – 1987, Adams was president of the Cleveland Chapter.
Adams has also served as a trustee on the Political Action Committee (PAC) Board for more than 10 years and is chair of the Ohio CPA/PAC.
“Involvement in the political process is an important way for a CPA to serve our profession,” Adams said. “By working with our elected officials on important issues, we can impact the future of the CPA profession as well as the business environment in Ohio.”
In addition to his work with the Society, Adams is a committed community volunteer and serves on John Carroll University’s Board of Trustees and various committees for the university. During his career, he has also remained dedicated to mentoring young professionals.
“I have always enjoyed working with young people to help them achieve success in their careers, and believe sharing my personal experience can be a valuable teaching tool,” Adams said.
Adams lives in Berea.
