Centennial Campaign
As Ohio Society Centennial Campaign nears $1.5 million goal, members rally to push the total over the top
September 8, 2008 -- Now standing at just over $1.3 million in member gifts and pledges, The Ohio Society’s Centennial Campaign to benefit The Ohio CPA Foundation is asking all members to help drive the total over the top and achieve or exceed the $1.5 million goal over the next six weeks.
The Society has mobilized hundreds of member volunteers to call upon their friends, co-workers and local peers to ask for gifts to campaign. Jan Culver CPA, KeyCorp senior vice president and volunteer chair of the Society’s General Appeal to members, said, “Now is the time to invest in the future and give a meaningful gift in support of the Foundation’s work.”
“If you believe in teaching children and adults how to better manage their money… if you believe in the importance of actively recruiting top students to the CPA profession… if you believe that together we can improve the future of many lives… then you believe in this campaign,” she said. “We are counting on you, as a CPA, as an accounting professional, as an Ohio Society member, to step up to the challenge of achieving this goal.”
Members can pledge online now or print out the form and mail it with their check in support of the campaign. See the September/October issue of Catalyst magazine for a pledge form and details on the campaign.
Funding Allocation
With a goal of $1.5 million, the campaign will allocate $1 million in endowment funds for future needs and $500,000 to support and expand current Foundation programs.
The Ohio CPA Foundation funds programs focused in two areas: ensuring a full pipeline of future CPAs and educating Ohio consumers on how to achieve financial independence—both critical issues in today’s competitive and challenging environment.
The Foundation builds awareness for the role and work of CPAs in their communities and works with educators to identify talented students, encourage them to attend college, and support them as they prepare to become the next generation of CPAs.
In 2005, The Ohio CPA Foundation launched Financial Fitness Ohio through which CPAs counsel consumers on how to better manage their money no matter what their age or stage in life. The public can receive financial tips through live seminars, and directly through the Financial Fitness Ohio Web site.
