What is the Speakers Bureau?

Creating opportunities for CPAs to tell the profession’s story and address critical financial issues facing Ohioans is one goal of The Ohio Society of CPAs. The Society's Speakers Bureau serves as a direct link between CPAs and their communities.

The Society Speakers Bureau is actively seeking opportunities to showcase CPAs' expertise on business and personal financial issues to community groups, schools, military personnel, and professional and service organizations, to promote financial literacy through Financial Fitness Ohio.

As a member of Society’s Speakers Bureau you have a valuable opportunity to help strengthen the reputation of CPAs in Ohio at a grassroots level. Speakers Bureau volunteers help spotlight the profession’s depth of knowledge and experience, one community at a time.

As a volunteer, what will I do?

Expectations of Speakers Bureau volunteers include:

• Participate in speaker training courses offered by The Ohio Society when possible (optional)
• Cover speaking engagements that are prearranged
• Deliver presentations that are consistent with the needs of the requesting organization
• If applicable, order appropriate literature/materials from The Ohio Society of CPAs

When the Society receives a speaker request that matches your preferences, we will contact you to find out if you are available and willing to speak to that group. If you agree to give the requested presentation, the Society will send you a confirmation letter that will include all pertinent details of the presentation (e.g. date and time, location, group type and size, contact person, etc.).

Do I qualify to participate?

Strong oral communication skills are required to be part of the Society’s Speakers Bureau. Special training is offered to members who are willing to take media requests.

What is the time commitment of the Speakers Bureau?

While the time commitment is flexible, we ask that members volunteer for a minimum one-year term on the Speakers Bureau. Volunteers will be asked to deliver one to five presentations during their term.
