Changes to title agency review rules (Sub. HB 157)
Substitute House Bill 157 corrects erroneous language relating to mandatory financial reviews of title agency escrow accounts. The Department of Insurance (DOI) originally filed administrative rules mandating that the reviews were due ninety days after a title agency’s fiscal year-end, which for most meant a due date of March 31. The Ohio Society worked with DOI to move the deadline for delivering reviews to a date that is outside of tax season, on Dec. 31, 2008 and submitted comments to clarify what would be mandated by the reviews, which are technically agreed-upon-procedures.
