Ohio Society Endorsement Program

The Ohio Society of CPAs’ endorsement program was instituted in 1994 to help inform CPAs about candidates who listen to and support the concerns of the accounting profession and business community. Conversely, the process also heightens awareness among candidates about our key issues. In many races, the choice to endorse one candidate over another is extremely difficult because many excellent, well-qualified office-seekers are running against one another.

The Ohio Society stresses fairness, integrity, and objectivity as the cornerstones of its endorsement program. Dozens of CPAs across the state, serving on regional screening committees, examine each candidate’s voting record (when applicable) on key issues facing the profession, their district make up, experience, background and responses to questions posed by The Ohio Society. In addition, personal interviews are conducted with certain candidates. Endorsements are provided as a guide for members of The Ohio Society of CPAs. Candidates are not endorsed by party affiliation or stance on social issues. All Society members are encouraged to share their thoughts with the screening committees on local candidates for the Ohio House, Ohio Senate or Ohio Congressional delegation, as well as statewide candidates.

The first Society wave of Society endorsements for the November 2008 election will be issued in June 2008. Additional endorsements will be released in August. For more information, contact The Ohio Society’s governmental affairs department at governmentalaffairs@ohio-cpa.com.
