Accounting for Kids Day
 |
For one day in November, CPA volunteers from all over Ohio take time out of their busy schedules to participate in the Society's largest volunteer outreach program, Accounting for Kids Day. On that day, they get to visit elementary schools and present financial concepts to students in a fun and exciting way.

The goal of the program, in conjunction with the Financial Fitness Ohio initiative, is to meet American's growing need to understand the fundamental concepts of personal finance. It provides an opportunity to start that financial education at a young age.
On Accounting for Kids Day, volunteer teams visit fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade classrooms to play an interactive investment game with each class. The game introduces students to the stock market and concepts such as how to budget and invest their money. During the game, students buy stocks and watch their investments grow over a 10-year period. Each year, represented by a roll of the dice, results in a gain, loss or no change in their investments.
