Elimination of licensed professionals from independent contractor classification (HB 200)

Working with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), the Society led successful efforts to eliminate individuals with state-regulated professional certification from being classified as an independent contractor for the purposes of collecting child support through ODJFS. The Society testified in the Senate Health Committee, arguing that inclusion of licensed professionals under the independent contractor definition would require CPAs and other professionals to disclose personal information, including their address and social security number, to their clients who in turn would submit the information to ODJFS.
