Sales tax on services

Faced with limited resources and unlimited requests for state funding, the Ohio General Assembly continues to look at an expansion of the sales tax base to enhance their pool of funds. For decades, The Ohio Society of CPAs has fought and won the battle to tax accounting and consulting services. As issues like school and Medicaid funding continue to take up an increasing amount of the state’s budget, Ohio and other states will look at taxing accounting and consulting services to bolster their state’s coffers. The Ohio Society will continue to bring the message to the legislative and executive branches that an expansion of the state’s sales tax base would be bad for Ohio.
