Student Ambassadors: Get involved on your campus

Want to earn money and spread the good news about the CPA profession? The Ohio Society of CPAs' Student Ambassador Program selects junior and senior college students to do both!

As a student ambassador, you'll earn a salary for working 10 hours a week to talk to other college and high school students about what it's like to major in accounting.

Here are some details on the program:

The Student Ambassador program was launched in 2001 on four Ohio campuses and was a tremendous success. Through the support of The Ohio Society of CPAs Educational Foundation, additional schools have joined the program and during the 2006-2007 school year, the Student Ambassador Program reached 11 Ohio campuses.

The Program is built around the concept of peer-to-peer networking. On each campus, a student who’s already an accounting major is hired and devotes 30 hours each month to helping dispel the negative stereotypes and misconceptions that exist about what CPAs do.

Student Ambassadors create windows of opportunity for CPAs to talk to students. They also leverage the power and influence of peer-to-peer interaction among students who are majoring in accounting and those who aren’t. This program is making significant strides in correcting misconceptions and is capturing the minds of students about what the future can hold if they become a CPA.

The Student Ambassador program is currently operating on the following campuses:

  • Ohio University
  • Miami University
  • The University of Toledo
  • Youngstown State University
  • Case Western Reserve University
  • Bowling Green State University
  • Wright State University
  • Xavier University
  • Kent State University
  • The Ohio State University
  • Cleveland State University

Contact Karen West at The Ohio Society to get involved with the program at your college or university.
